Farmer Category Introduction
Farmer must meet the following criteria:
Farm management skillsApplicants must prove that they have farm management skills.Proof of this may include, but is not limited to:
- financial documentation of an existing farm business
- documentation of education, training and work experience
- a proposed business plan for the farming enterprise you are considering in Alberta
Sufficient financial resourcesApplicants must be able to invest a minimum of CDN $500,000 of equity in a primary production farming business.Documents must be provided that show a minimum net worth of CDN $500,000 or confirmation of the ability to access to a similar amount of funds from other sources.Applicants may be required to show the ability to invest more than the minimum.

The following individuals are not eligible::refugee claimants, or individuals involved in a federal appeal or removal process. (all these conditions and terms are solely implied as per as company policies-please feel free to contact us for more details on company policies guidelines.)
ENTREPRENEUR
Entrepreneurs may apply under the general provision if they· are currently employed by a multi-national company and seeking entry to work in aparent, a subsidiary, a branch, or an affiliate of that enterprise.· are transferring to an enterprise that has a qualifying relationship with the enterprise in which they are currently employed
Guidelines when assessing start-up companies
Requirements for the company
· Generally, the company must secure physical premises to house the Canadian operation, particularly in the case of specialized knowledge.
The company must furnish realistic plans to staff the new operation.·
The company must have the financial ability to commence business in Canada and compensate employees.· When transferring a specialized knowledge worker, the company must demonstrate that it is expected to be doing business; ensure that work is guided and directed by management at the Canadian operation.
Duration of work permits
· Initial work permit: one year· For renewals, evidence should be provided that the Canadian and foreign companies still have a qualifying relationship; the new office has engaged in the continuous provision of goods or services for the past year; the new office has been staffed.
Documentation requirements
The following documentation is required:·
Confirmation that the foreign national is currently employed by a multi-national enterprise.
Confirmation that the foreign national has been employed continuously by that enterprise,
Applicant’s position in an executive or managerial capacity or one involving specialized knowledge
Intended duration of stay; and· description of the relationship between the enterprise in Canada
The duration of the work permit will be used to calculate the maximum five- or seven-year time limit.
Transferee duration of work permit limit:
After transferees have reached their maximum work permit duration (seven years for executives and senior managers, and five years for specialized knowledge workers), they must complete one year of full-time employment in the company outside Canada if they wish to re-apply as an -company transferee
What are the Entrepreneur requirements:
Documents which prove the foreign worker has been employed.
The transferee’s current job description or evidence of the individual's specialized knowledge.
Proof of the relationship between the company in Canada and the foreign country
Processing Time
The company transfer processing time in Canada can be completed quickly in 1 month or as long as 12 months, it depends on the country the applicant applies from.

Question: Can I change employers while in Canada on an -company transferee?
Answer: No, this program is employer specific. If your employment with the company ended you would need to leave Canada, unless you qualified and applied for another visa.
Question: What is the maximum duration for company transferees?
Answer: Seven years for executives and senior managers, and five years for specialized knowledge workers. Once the maximum time is reached, they will need to complete one year of full-time employment outside of Canada , and are required of NAFTA to reapply for company transfer
Question: May I request an Company Transferee for my spouse?
Answer: Spouses and children are permitted to live in Canada as part of company transferee program.
Question: What specialized knowledge qualifies for transfer?
Answer: Someone with insight on intellectual property the company owns. Based on our experience, it’s very common for tech workers to fall into this category.
Question: What are the requirements if the company is start-up?
Answer: It can be complicated, and we recommend speaking to our intra-company transfer lawyers. To determine transferee eligibility, the company must have proof of financial ability and a plan for growth in Canada. The initial work permit is one year.
